About Stefan

The son of a diplomat, raised across three continents.

Born in South Africa. Childhood in Kenya and Hong Kong. Stefan arrived in the United States with an outsider’s perspective and a systems thinker’s mind — and spent the next four decades reshaping an entire industry.

He has served as President and CEO of a real estate brokerage, a global real estate franchisor, a national REALTOR® association, an MLS organization, and a technology startup. He founded T3 Sixty, the leading management consulting firm in residential real estate and Real Estate News, one of the industry’s largest digital media companies.

Someone invented a new way to watch television , and everyone went out and bought the device.

That is the level of change Stefan brought to the real estate industry. Not incremental improvement. Structural transformation. The frameworks, the rankings, the trend analyses, the advisory relationships — these didn’t just describe the industry. They reorganized it.

For the last 19 years, Stefan has served as a trusted confidential adviser to CEOs and other senior leaders in the real estate industry — shaping strategy behind closed doors at companies that collectively represent the majority of the market.

The name carries more than one story.

The Swanepoel name has roots in Southern Africa — carried through generations of leaders, diplomats, and builders who shaped their communities long before Stefan shaped an industry. Swanepoel.com is intentionally bigger than one person. It’s a family name, a lineage, and a legacy that stretches back generations and across continents.
